A mentioned by my peer @IamjuViel in her post above, you'll need to ensure that both computer and laptop meet the system requirements for the QuickBooks version to avoid compatibility issues when installing the program and enabling the multi-user network.
Then, determine which computer will you store your company files on. Once completed, follow the steps to set up folder permissions on your server computer.
