Banking

I'll elaborate on some details when you connect your bank, Senecaland.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) downloads the transactions automatically and categorizes them based on similar transactions. Some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. Others can go back as far as 24 months.

Also, QuickBooks is dependent on what information is being fed upon or provided by the bank. What my colleague @SarahannC emphasizes is that sometimes banks encounter several problems that result in connectivity issues. If this happens, you'll get notifications from your bank.

Since you're only getting the last 3 months' worth of your transactions, you can manually update them to keep up with the latest.

  1. Go to Transactions and select Bank transactions.
  2. Select Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue update. You must enter these credentials within 2 minutes of being prompted. Multi-Factor Authentication is any security precaution that requests more than a single username and password.

Additionally, you can learn how QuickBooks suggests categories, by going through this article for your reference: Categorize Online Bank Transactions in QuickBooks Online.
