I understand how frustrating it can be to deal with duplicate transactions in QuickBooks.

  1. Review and Match Transactions:
    • First, review and match the transactions in QuickBooks. Make sure you’ve properly categorized and matched them to avoid duplicates.
    • If you’re using bank feeds, ensure that you’ve reviewed and accepted the transactions correctly.
  2. Exclude Duplicate Transactions:
    • Go to the Banking or Transactions menu in QuickBooks.
    • From the For Review tab, select the checkbox of the duplicate transactions you want to exclude.
    • Click Exclude to remove them from your books.
  3. Delete Duplicates from the Chart of Accounts:
    • If you’re still seeing duplicates, check if the linked account (such as a checking account) is causing the issue.
    • Navigate to the Chart of Accounts:
      • Click the Accounting tab on the left panel.
      • Select Chart of Accounts.
    • Locate the account that’s creating duplicate transactions and click View Register under the Action column.
    • Delete the duplicate entries one by one.
  4. Consult an Accountant:
    • It’s always a good idea to consult an accountant to ensure accurate reporting.
    • They can guide you through this process and provide tips to prevent future duplicates.

Remember to create a backup copy of your file before making any changes, just in case.
