How does one request a partial payment (require a deposit) as part of a larger final total to be fully paid when a project is complete?
The +/- feature has now been removed on the latest update and we have no solution to present a deposit or partial payment request. One or the other needs to return.

If you use estimates you can create a progress invoice for a specific percentage or amount that will then show what needs to be paid and what will remain to be paid. When you are ready to bill for the final amount it will give you the option to invoice what's left.

This does not appear to
be possible via QuickBooksOnline through the mobile app. Our sales
personnel need to be able to
accomplish in the field from a mobile. If so can you explain?

This does not appear to be possible via mobile. If so please explain. Our sales personnel need to be able to be mobile. The +/- feature appears to be working through the older format and kinda works through the invoice. I also
can not edit an invoice any more through mobile once a payment is made. Features found useful via desktop are way more valuable to home services.

Hi Athometradescle-,
Thank you for posting here in the Community. Allow me to chime in and help you accomplish the task from a mobile.
Progress invoicing lets you split an estimate into as many invoices as you need. Instead of asking for full payment at the beginning of a project, you can invoice customers for partial payments.
This option is only available in the old estimate and invoice layout. First, enable progress invoicing in the account settings to use the feature through your browser.
Here's how:
- Click the Gear ⚙ icon in the upper-right corner, then Account and settings.
- Select the Sales tab.
- In the Progress Invoicing section, select Edit ✎.
- Turn on the Create multiple partial invoices from a single estimate switch.
- In the Update your invoice template? window, select Update.
- Select Save, then hit Done.
Once done, you'll need to create a progress invoice template. I recommend following the remaining solutions in this link: Set up and send progress invoices in QuickBooks Online.
After completing the steps, you can use the mobile app to create estimates and convert them to invoices. Alternatively, you can also use a mobile web browser to access the same features available in the desktop web browser.
Additionally, you can use our chart to compare which features are supported on mobile devices. I've attached the link you can visit for your reference: Compare mobile app features.
Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions about requesting a partial payment to projects in QuickBooks. We'll be happy to help you some more. Take care.
