Press F2 while in QuickBooks. See the List Information box on the right column of the resulting window.

Do you know if that number includes active and inactive customers? I'm looking for a way to just see how many active customers I have without having to export to excel.

You can easily access the Transaction List by Customer report and tailor it to display only active customers, windyl0u. I'll be glad to show you how.
- Start by clicking on the Reports menu at the top of the page, then select Customers & Receivables.
- Next, choose Transaction List by Customer.
- Click on the Customize Report button.
- Then, navigate to the Filters tab.
- In the search bar, type in Name, select All customers/jobs, and ensure to choose the Active radio button.
- Click on OK to close the Modify Report window.
For additional assistance with report customization, consider reading the article: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can also save its current customization saving you time for future use.

Again, this is completely useless. I don't understand why QB insists on giving out answers that do not meet the questions criteria.

@windyl0u RE: I don't understand why QB insists on giving out answers that do not meet the questions criteria.
Well, they'd first have to read the question, and then also actually understand it, and then know how QuickBooks works, and then figure out an answer that actually addresses the question. For some reason, that seems to be a tall order for the reps that post here.
What is it you need, related to the original question?
