Hello there, Scotty. I'm here to guide you through the process of converting your data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.
Please note that there isn’t a direct way to convert QBO data to QBDT for Mac. First, you’ll need to convert the QBO data to QBDT for Windows, and then you can convert that file to QBDT for Mac.
That said, did you download the Migration tool on your Mac computer? This could be the reason why the tool isn't working. You need to first use a Windows computer for the conversion of QBO to QBDT for Windows to utilize the tool. You can download a trial version of QBDT for this process.
Let's begin the conversion process by downloading the Migration tool:
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online and go to the Export Overview page.
- Select Get Started. Then, click the Download tool. Please keep this page open on your browser.
- Install the migration tool, then select Next.
- Read and accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
- Select Install, then Finish.

After completing the conversion to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Windows, the next step is to convert the file to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Please note that only QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Premier Accountant Editions are supported for conversion from QBDT Windows to QBDT Mac. You can contact our support team to get these trial versions.
