Account management

Well Tuesday was interesting. While I am posting my questions I get a call on my clients phone regarding the 2023 Quickbooks Desktop and its from QB PRO (Ironically, I had done a survey they sent me from the help I had received the week before). . Well the Intuit Representative tells me his name is SID and even spells it for me. He states he needs to come into my computer to see what is going on with the Desktop 2023 through Logmein123. I asked why he couldn't just come into the computer using Glance and he says he really needs to use Logmein123 to look at the file but will not be able to maniupulate my computer (I should know better as I use LOGMEIN myself, but I have to be the remote in order to make changes on someone elses computer.   I agree to let him come into my computer (I am not sure why I let him come into my new computer at this clients because the last time I did this in 2013 I had nothing but problems with my computer at this same clients office). When he comes in his name is Spencer now so I question it and he says he told me his name was Spencer and I should have hung up right then but I didn't. So he asks me to go into the reconciliation and demonstrate what is happening and I do this like 3 different times. Then he asks me to update the quickbooks and what does it say on the update screen afterwords (which nothing updates). So "Spencer" then tells me that the update is not happening correctly so he asked me to do it again. Then he states that since the updates are not working that it has to do with my file so I asked if I should go into utiilities to update the data and he says no. He then pulls up a screen with different tabs on it and then a dos screen appears and he starts spouting off what is wrong with the quickbooks but was talking so fast I can't keep up with what he is saying. I tell him that when I go into the QB Tool hub and go into fix the PDF it actually brings up the same screen but references "Microsoft 10" in the verbage so I think it is something to do with QB and Microsoft because I have Microsoft 11 on this new computer but Microsoft 10 on the Home office computer. He then states the Intuit can fix my problem but i have to agree to pay for support (which I thought was free with QB 2023) if I agree to pay $15 per MB (based on the file size file size) or $2000 for unlimited support. I can't remember if I hung up first or disconnected the logmein123, but at this point I restarted my computer. So now I am really leary and call the phone number back and an Edward answers as QB Pro. I only work in this clients 1 day a week so when I go back I will work with the IT person to tell her what happened and see what the necessary steps are to secure my computer in case this guy was not who he said he was because the QB Rep the week before used the Glance within QB to help me - not Logmein. This experience is more than concerning to me....
