I've got your back to help you log off in your QuickBooks account, @Melissa561.
The Gear button is available in QuickBooks Online. Since you mentioned File and Exit, I assumed that you're using the Desktop version of QuickBooks.
For you to log out of the software and open a new file, here's what you need to do:
- Go to the File menu at the top portion.
- Select Close Company.
- The No Company Open window will pop up.
- From there, you can restore or open a new company file.
