Hello @vernonchaplains,

I appreciate you for getting back to us here in the Community. Allow me to chime in and help you fix the freezing issue in QuickBooks Desktop.

Since your file size is normal, I recommend performing additional troubleshooting steps. You can run the Verify Data and Rebuild tools to scan and self-resolve common errors in the program.

To verify data:

  1. Click the File tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Hover your cursor to Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data

Once done, you can proceed with rebuilding the data. Please follow these steps:

  1. Click the File tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Hover your cursor to Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.

Also, can you share with us your QuickBooks version (year)? This way, we'll be able to prove you with recommended system requirements to run the program smoothly.

In case the issue is performance related, check out this page: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues: Manage your data file.

For additional reference, I've attached a link you can use about how to run the repair tool for QuickBooks: Repair your QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Please let me know if you need further assistance fixing the problem. The Community and I will be here to help you.
