Account management

Thanks for joining the thread, @Julie100.

We're unable to invite an accountant using an inactive QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Thus, you'll want to consider resubscribing so you can do this task. For the details on how to achieve this, please check out this article: How to resubscribe QBO subscription?.

Also, once your QBO account is canceled, you'll have read-only access to your data for a year: What happens when I cancel my QBO subscription?. If you have canceled your QBO Payroll subscription, you're still able to access your data for six months after the end of the tax year in which it was collected. However, you're not able to run payroll or create paychecks, or file and pay taxes electronically within QuickBooks Online.

You'll want to know the number of accounting firms you can add depending on your QBO subscription type. I'll be including  this article for more information about this: How many users can I set up in QBO?. This way, you'll be able to manage the accountant access in your QBO account. Here's an article that you can refer to: How to manage accountant users in QBO?. It contains the steps on how to invite and remove an accountant so you can have control who can access your company files.

I'll be here in the Community to lend a hand if you need more help or have questions about managing your accounts in QBO. Stay safe.
