Quickbooks won't let me create a new company file.
Each time I try to create a new company file, I click "save" to start the process, and it says "The file cannot be saved." and then Quickbooks crashes.
Edit: It only did this when I tried to save into Quickbooks. When I saved it in Documents, I can open the new file, but then I can't open it on the other shared computers, which is a problem.

Your company file should be stored in you documents folder. Once you enable multiuser mode the company file will show under the shared dropdown in the no company open window.

I too am having problems creating a new company file. I created a backup and stored it in documents. The app crashes when I select New company file. I am using Quicken 2019 MAC Desktop.

Thanks for joining this thread, mommie-salami.
Deleting and reinstalling the app can help get you back on track. You’ll only be performing a few steps to accomplish this.
Here’s how:
- Refresh your Mac by rebooting it.
- Open the Applications folder either by using the Finder or searching in the Spotlight.
- Find the app and delete it.
- If prompted, enter the Mac user password to authorize the deletion.
- Launch the Mac App Store.
- Make sure to enter the login details so you can access the site.
- Go to the app you just deleted, then click on Install to re-download it.
To enhance the software's overall performance, I suggest updating it to the latest release version: Update QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
After completing the process, you should be able to open QuickBooks smoothly.
Let me know how these steps work for you. I’ll be right back to assist further.
