I have a banking error 185 and 101 can anyone please help with this error. I am not sure where I am doing something wrong. I am trying to connect my bank in quickbooks.

There were a few reasons why you encountered these two errors, Ilearncent.

The Bank Error 185 means that the financial institution requires additional security information to access the account, such as a multi-factor authentication code. This is a security measure that banks use to protect their customers' accounts.

Follow the steps below based on what your bank is asking for:

Security Question

  • If your bank prompts you with a security question, simply enter the correct answer.
  • QuickBooks Online will remember your answers for future updates.
  • If you've forgotten the answers, you'll need to contact your bank to reset them.

One-Time Password

  • If your bank requires a one-time password (OTP), you'll need to obtain this code from your bank (typically sent to your phone or email) and enter it each time you encounter Error 185.

The Bank Error 101 indicates an issue connecting to your bank, often because the bank account is inactive (no transactions in 12+ months), you're trying to add an account for which you haven't accepted new terms and conditions, or there's a temporary problem with the bank's server.

Errors from your bank can prevent QuickBooks from connecting to your account. You can follow the article for more information on the error code you are encountering: Troubleshoot and fix banking errors

If you've tried all these steps and the errors continue, it's best to contact our Live support team to look up your account, as they have the necessary tools and can provide further resolution to help you connect your bank account in QBO.
