Buy nowHow can I get a report that shows customer payments by product/service for a time period. For example if I want all customer payment by service/product category for October. Not what was billed but what was actually actually collected or paid that time period by product/service category?

I'd like to run a custom monthly report that shows product/service & the payment received in the month (not sales) for that specific product/service. In my case, I sell a service that is often paid for over a few months. I'd like a summary of payments received by months.
Example. customer signs up and an invoice is created for $1000 (i.e. a sale of Item A). In month 1 they pay 600 and in month 2 they pay 400. I'd a report that shows
Month 1:
"Item A"
Payment: $600
Balance: $400
Month 2
"Item A"
Payment: $400
Balance: $0
Also, I can a commission based on payment received (i.e. in month 1 it would be $600 multiplied by a commission percentage). Is there a way to create a custom field that multiplies the payment received by a set %?
There are similar questions but the solution provided is sales by product service not payments.
Thanks
Yes, in QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can run custom reports for products and services, as well as for payments received, @dsfsdfds. However, there isn’t a built-in feature that allows users to create a custom field that automatically multiplies the payment received by a set percentage directly within transaction forms. I’ll guide you through the steps to customize a specific report.
To generate a monthly report in QBO that displays products/services and the payments received in a specified month, here's how:

Thank you for this. Ive been able to set it up but I have another question.
I would like the payment column to be net of tax. They currently show as the full payment amount. I would like to know how I can add a column that shows the payment net of tax. In the attached screen shot that would be "Amount" less "Tax Amount"
Thanks
please disregard my second question re. tax. Thanks
Is there a way to show this report with prior months payments, also shown by month? I would like to generate a report as a summary of payments received by service/product, by month (i.e not just show current month).
Thanks
Customizing reports is beneficial as it allows businesses to tailor the data presentation to their unique needs and preferences. I've attached this article that offers detailed instructions on how to customize reports in QuickBooks Online: Customize Report in Modern View.
You can also print reports by check number in QuickBooks Online, which may be useful for you in the future.
I was able to create the report net of tax and it is working great. I do want to add one more layer of complexity.
I would like my report, which shows customer payments for a series of months. Ideally something like this (see attached). I want to see payments for every month within a certain range. Ive seen similar reports for Income Statement by month.

looking for a solution on this. See attached screen shot. Payments by month for a customer/service. How do i generate this report?
Thank you for returning to the thread, @dsfsdfds. In QuickBooks Online we can generate Sales by Product/Service Detail report and group them by month. Let me provide detailed information to achieve this report.
This report provides comprehensive insights into sales activities broken down by each product or service. To pull up this report please follow the steps below:
To match the layout from your provided screenshots, you can export the file to Excel, and you can customize them with the information you need.
Moreover, you can save and share customized reports in a group to enhance data sharing and teamwork efficiency.
I value your dedication to obtaining this report, @dsfsdfds. Providing us with screenshots is highly appreciated as it helps us provide targeted solutions. If you need further assistance, please leave a comment below. Have a great day ahead!
Thanks for the update, however, I do not wish to export to excel to complete this task. Also, I do not see the balance receivable. In your rightmost column, the math doesn't appear to add up.
I see that you can export an income statement by month and have each month horizontally across the screen.
Can you please let me know how to accomplish the attached screenshot inside QBO? Again, exporting to Excel is not an option. I would like the months horizontally, and the vertical column grouped by product/service. I'm sure through some custom reporting tweaks this can be done and that is what I'm hoping you can help with. I need a QBO solution, not Excel.
Thank you
I appreciate your dedication to streamlining your reporting process within QuickBooks Online (QBO), dsfsdfds. However, displaying months horizontally and grouping columns by product/service is not supported. I can assist you in requesting this feature from our developers to enhance future data presentation.
I understand the convenience of organizing the balance receivable, invoices, and products/services in a report within the program. While QBO offers various reporting options, the specific format of displaying months horizontally with a vertical column grouped by product/service is unavailable. In this case, I recommend submitting a request for more configuration choices to customize the rows, columns, and data accordingly.
