Buy nowWell folks, Intuit has a BIG problem on its hand with the new Quickbooks Desktop shipping module which is from ShipEngine.
After 3 hours of talking to multiple Intuit tech support, sales, and customer support representatives, it appears that their new shipping module CANNOT PRINT TO THE ZEBRA LABEL PRINTER as their current built-in Shipping Manager module can do.
Each time I tried to print a label in the new ShipEngine - after confirming I wanted the 4" x 6" thermal label - all I got was a PDF file and not an automatic print on the same Zebra printer I have been using for years with the current Ship Manager.
The last Intuit gentleman who tried to help even did a remote session and we tried different things to no avail.
While the last gentleman will talk to his supervisors and try to get this issue to the right people, he said I will have to install the Zebra printer driver as a Windows printer on my computer and then open each label PDF and choose that printer.
Wow. What a great fix!
If I am going to do all that, I might as well just ship using the FedEx desktop software which already works with the printer. I will lose the address scraping and pasting of tracking numbers if I do so but it will probably take less time.
Fingers crossed Intuit has this fixed by June 1st!
Wondering if you were ever able to fix or get an answer. I am trying to print the 8.5 x 11 version of the label and only get the Thermal layout in pdf form. I have the correct version selected in my "shipping label Layout" but it will only print the 4 x 6 via pdf.
I agree that will all the steps invovled it will be easier to use my online shipping account w/ UPS rather than screw around with this catastrophe!
Hi All.
An important update to the thermal label printing issue with Quickbooks' new shipping manager. I have not returned to provide an update because I kept using the old system until today when I was finally forced to use the new Ship Station interface.
Technical support was again unable to help me figure out why only a PDF label was being created and not a direct send to my Zebra label printer.
But today's tech (yes today's as I have spoken to many techs over the past week) did watch me editing the PDF printer because the label was only printing 2" x 3" on the 4" x 6" label. He helped me edit the Zebra printer properties which were preset for 2" x 3". Once I updated it to 4" x 6", the label printed fine although I did slow down the speed and increase the darkness for a better looking label.
Later I went to my regular Windows Printer Settings and updated that printer's setting permanently to 4" x 6" and the slow speed and darker image. Bingo! When I went to print another PDF label it printed perfectly.
Now I am NOT happy to have the take the extra steps to print the PDF label instead of an automatic label from the old shipping system but at least I now have a workaround until that issue is fixed.
Enjoy!
