Buy nowHello,
QBD Enterprise 24 has been crashing for the last several weeks when I close the company file, normally after I have backed up.
These are the steps I have taken, many of them several times.
My computer has all its updates
QBD is updated.
Tool hub, verify and rebuild data, quick fix my program, quick fix my file, run file doctor. It always says the errors have been fixed, or they don't find any problems
(when I run these on the server the message comes up that Hosting mode is off, but it is actually on and QBDBMgrN not running on this computer, but it is)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled QBD
Created a new user account for myself
I have spent a couple hours on a call with support, but they did not fix the issue, they went through all the steps I have done several times.
I have logged in on coworkers computers (as myself) and after backing up and closing the company file, it did not crash. That makes me think there is something wrong/missing in the settings on my computer.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks, Lori
Did you just install a new program or update something else?
Try opening the sample file on QB Desktop. Did you encounter the same problem?
When I open a sample company, it opens fine. I did not do a back up though.
The only updates are from Dell and Microsoft.
Restore the backup file from your friend's PC with a new name. Then, try opening the new file on your PC.
I restored the backup on friend's computer and have re-opened on mine and entered a couple transaction, backed up and closed successfully!
So far so good!
Thanks for your help!! I will keep you posted.
I was hoping to report that all was working fine, but unfortunately I got another unrecoverable error. Code 18302 50142. This time it happened when I was switching to single user mode, while logged in as Admin.
When I looked online about this code, this is the information I got. Yesterday I was on a support chat trying to set up an email for the Receipt Management, after 2-1/2 hours the agent was at a loss and was supposed to have a supervisor call me...but we re-install QBD Enterprise 24.
After everything I have done this week, it makes me wonder if a Windows Component is not playing nicely. Do you have any experience on that side?
That error code you’re seeing — Unrecoverable Error 18302 50142 in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise — usually points to something on the system side rather than your data. A few common culprits:
The first things I’d try:
If none of those clear it, the next step is often a clean install of QuickBooks Desktop using the Tool Hub’s Clean Install Tool.
Thanks for getting back with the Community, lori11364.
If QuickBooks is crashing and displaying an error code while you're using your books, it may be caused by issues with the computer itself, or by how QuickBooks interacts with your system.
Since you've already confirmed QuickBooks is up-to-date with its latest release, I'd recommend continuing to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
They can be reached while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
I've also included a detailed resource about QuickBooks crashing which may
come in handy moving forward: QuickBooks closes unexpectedly (crashes with or without an error)
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Friday!
Create the new backup file with the new error code and restore it on your colleague's PC. Did you encounter the same error code?
Andy
Hi Andy,
I did encounter that same error code, but after doing more work on my computer, I started getting a few other codes. The last code I got was code 16072 00677 when I tried closing a transaction that I had open on my computer. This was after I had Emily update the transaction on her computer (I should have closed the transaction before having Emily change it).
At that point I said it was time to start my weekend. I gave IT exact times of the crashes,he was going to do some investigating this weekend. I need to find out what he discovered.
From some of the information I was reading online it could be an issue with my computer. This started a few months ago, and slowing increased in frequency until now where it is everyday. I am not sure what happened a few months ago, maybe a update that QBD didn't like? Is that a possibility?
Lori
Yes, I was able to complete that with no issue.
