Canada Child Benefit for Temp Resident - wrong calculations

My Client family immigrated to Canada during the year 2024. The immigration date is entered correctly in Profile.

Profile is wrongly calculating Child Benefits without considering the eligibility criteria by CRA.

They have not finished 18 months in Canada, which can be calculated from the date of Immigration already entered in Profile. The Child Benefit should not be calculated for this kind of situation,

It should be corrected immediately by PROFILE so as not to provide misleading information and expectations.

As per Eligibility criteria on CRA website,

To get the CCB, you must meet all of the following conditions:

You must live with the child, and the child must be under 18 years of age.

You must be a resident of Canada for tax purposes.

One of the condition is, You or your spouse or common-law partner must be any of the following:
A temporary resident (as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) who has lived in Canada throughout the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month.

Thanks.

Canada Child Benefit for Temp Resident - wrong calculations

Profile can not decide whether a taxpayer is eligible or not, that is why there is a question at the top of the CCB form: Are you eligible to receive CCB ?

The Tax Preparer needs to answer this question.

Canada Child Benefit for Temp Resident - wrong calculations

Hello Mario,

As always you did not understood the question and replied without even understanding the issue.

When We click no on the question "Are you eligible to receive CCB" other parent becomes yes and there is no way both can be ticked "NO". Even Over Write is not allowed.

Looks like you do not use Profile with Live data t process the taxes. Its frustrating to receive irrelevant answer.

If you can guide the steps to resolve the issue will be of great support, else please keep the issue open..!

Thanks for understanding.

Canada Child Benefit for Temp Resident - wrong calculations

Thanks Vipul, I overlooked the fact that there is no way to select NO for both spouses, I will create an enhancement ticket. The only workaround is to override the numbers of the estimated amount.

Typically, you can override an amount by simply typing a new value. ProFile indicates amounts that you override in red text and displays a red diamond in the field's status box.
