No-name return options do not apply to the other spouse’s return

When I created a “no-name” tax return for 2021, I checked/unchecked certain boxes (i.e., “CRA online mail-NO”, “Do you want preparer to get Electronic Notice of Assessment?-NO”, “Non-Canadian mailing address for a resident of Canada?-NO”, etc.).

Thus, when I create a new tax return or carry forward a return from the previous year, all the boxes are automatically checked/unchecked according to my specifications, which saves me a lot of time.

However, when I create a new coupled return, or carry forward a coupled return, the various boxes in the other spouse’s tax return are NOT checked. Thus, I have to manually check or uncheck them, which is quite time-consuming.

In addition, I noticed that for 2021 there is a new questions, “Non-Canadian mailing address for a resident of Canada? Even though my clients have Canadian address and are residents of Canada, the box on spouse’s return is checked “YES” and I get a long yellow notice stating, “The T1 return contains….” Again, I have to manually check the “NO” box-and in this particular case, I have to use the F2 (override) key to do so.

Any suggestions to resolve these issues?

No-name return options do not apply to the other spouse’s return

Hi, thanks for using Intuit ProFile Community

Unfortunately that is just the nature of the file template: it creates exactly the return you post to Options> Module. If a single return is used, ProFile creates a single return. Changes to the return must be made as required.  To demonstrate this further, if you post a coupled return to Options > Module, every new return you create will be that exact coupled file. For more information and for those interested, there is a great file template Community article here.

Hope this helps

Also the foreign address question issue will be resolved in the next update
