I'm about to use the import journal function but in the Help and Support area it says that only parent accounts are allowed. Is this true? Sounds counter intuitive.

The sub-accounts are there to be posted to and parent accounts used to sum them together. Why would I therefore not be able to load a journal into a sub-account?

The option to import journal entries with subaccounts isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Mark. Journal entry line items must be parent accounts, subaccounts will cause a "Line Account Invalid" error.

 

I understand that importing sub-accounts is essential to you, as they are crucial for detailed financial tracking and reporting. However, this feature is currently unavailable. I recommend submitting your request through the QuickBooks Feedback feature so our Product Engineers can address this issue promptly. To send a feature request, please follow the steps below.

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions, indicating why the feature is necessary and its potential impact on your business.
  3. Then select Next to submit feedback.
