Getting the Most out of QuickBooks
Updated May 19, 2023 07:30 AM
Welcome to QuickBooks Housekeeping Corner! We are happy to have you here. This limited series will cover important tasks, much like changing your car’s oil or winterizing your sprinkler system, that we recommend Business Owners complete on a regular basis.
Let’s keep everything working like a well oiled machine!
Our first topic is… updating your Company Address! Did you know most billing, resubscribe, and even subscription issues or errors can be solved by confirming your billing address and updating it within the product? Well they can! The best defense is a good offense.
Below are frequent errors that are results of incorrect addresses:
- Please update your Company address information and try again. If the issue persists, please contact support and reference this message
- Unable to process your request at this time. Please sign out and try again later. If the issue persists, please contact support and reference this message.
- We couldn't process your payment. Make sure your billing info is up to date. If the issue persists, please contact support and reference this message. (Error code:-81624)

Confirm Billing Address for your Credit or Debit Card
The best tip here is to make sure that QuickBooks has the same billing address entered as your bank does.
Confirm your Physical Address with USPS
You can use the USPS website to make sure your address formatting is correct.
- Go to the USPS Zip Code Lookup Tool > select “By Address” > fill out the fields based on what is in the QB Admin Tool > select “Find”
- The new screen will show what you have listed for the address, and below will be what the USPS has for the street address. (It is not case sensitive and will display in all caps as a default.)
- Make sure that you don't use any abbreviations that aren't used in the USPS look up tool. While they may work for getting your mail delivered, it can cause problems when trying to verify charges
- STE needs to be Suite, P.O needs to be PO Box, CT needs to be Court
Update in your Product!
QuickBooks Online
Login > Gear Icon > Account & Settings > Address > Company Address > pencil icon to edit > enter the validated street address, city, state, and zip-code.
- Note: the Legal address needs to be the same as the Company Address.
- Additionally, under Contact Info > edit > the phone number listed must have a country code in front, +1
Do you have QuickBooks Online Payroll?
Log in > Gear Icon > Payroll Settings > Work Locations > pencil icon to edit > select “Edit” in blue > “Edit work location” window will pop out, enter in validated Company Address > select green “Save” button
- Note: You can also access editing work locations via the Employee’s Employment Details section of Payroll.
Intuit Account
In the upper right of your QuickBooks screen, select your “initial icon” or navigate to accounts.intuit.com > select “Personal info” from the left hand menu > Address field > select either “add your address” or select on existing address to edit > make appropriate changes so the address matches your Company Address > select Save
