While summer isn't the long break of no school and no responsibilities of childhood, every year I can't help but look forward to the changing of the season.  Not to mention the sense of adventure and enjoyment of the plentiful sun and good times that it brings.   Here are some of the ways that the team likes to celebrate summer.

Beach time

From Sasha

How I celebrate summer is usually at the beach. By now, you should know that the way to my heart is a day at the beach! In Antigua there are 365 beaches, one for each day of the year.  A fun activity my best friend and I do is going beach hopping and finding new restaurants. We even created an Instagram blog/page visiting these beautiful beaches and restaurants and capturing the moments. So far, we were able to see 14 beaches and cant wait to visit the rest! Here is one of my all-time favorite pictures in which we were able to enjoy some fine dining and fantastic food with this as our view!Beach.jpeg

Family celebrations and personal get-aways

From Morgan

There are so many wonderful ways to celebrate summer. Summers for me and my family include a big birthday bash for my dad and my oldest little boy (their birthdays are one day apart). We also love having a big 4th of July cookout and watching fireworks. One of my personal favorite ways to celebrate the season in general is just simply by taking a drive. This has always been such a stress reliever for me and can be done with family, friends, or completely alone. It may be the small town in me but I put on a good play list, roll every window all the way down, and kind of try to get lost. This is one of the pictures I took on my last drive. I’m lucky enough to enjoy this scenery on a daily basis but it’s probably my favorite during the summer.Image from iOS (33).jpg

All about that lake life

From Kiala

Summer isn't official until we've gone to the lake! Here in Idaho there are so many lakes and rivers to choose from but our favorite will always be McCall. This year we stayed at an inn and spent two days soaking up the sun and breathing in that fresh air. Probably made too many trips to our favorite ice cream spot but.....during the summer I don't think there's a such thing as too much ice cream! I love blowing up my inner tube and just floating in the water. And now that we have a bike rack, we also hit up the many bike trails and saw lots of deer and wildlife. Getting outside is the best recharge.20210617_185612.jpg

Beating the heat

From Lisa

Living in the desert is funny sometimes - while the rest of the states are spending more time outside, we are over here trying to keep cool and avoiding the outdoors as much as possible.   Which isn't to say that we give up on summer celebrations, we just tend to move them around a bit.   Hiking or bike rides need to be finished by 7am when it starts getting hot, and BBQs or get-togethers tend to happen after 7p when the sun starts going down.  Some local attractions even get into it, with summer hours that are earlier and "Hot Summer nights" promos that let you visit them once the sun goes down so you can enjoy things without fear of heatstroke.  This pic is from one such night at the local park.  We were playing some Pokemon Go with the kids before we headed in to check out the zoo after dark.  2021-06-28_10-52-01.jpg

"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time."

~ John Lubbock

Do you have any summer memories you want to share?  Maybe a picture that keeps you going when the winter is long and cold?  We'd love to know!
