Why is my Expenses adding to my gross profit instead of subtracting

The expenses shouldn't behave this way, @oasisimaging. I can share some troubleshooting steps to deduct the entries from your gross profit accordingly.

You can start by reviewing the transactions recorded under your Expenses. It's the best place to spot unusual recordings that may affect the behavior. From there, double-check your entries and ensure they were recorded under the proper expense accounts or items.

  1. Run your report.
  2. Go to the Total Expenses section, then tap on the amount.
  3. Run through each entry, then modify the details if you need to.

If everything is correct, but the system calculates the same way as before, you can access your account through a private window to narrow down the result. The browser's cache can also contribute to the odd performance while working with QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts for your convenience:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL Shift N
  • Safari: Press Command Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL Shift P

If it works fine, switch back to your original browser, then clear its cache to start fresh.
