Quickbooks is extracting figures from running balance on the Bank statement instead of debit and credit hence wrong amount is categorised. I need help on this.

Here are a few scenarios we can explore to determine why your running balance is incorrect, George.

Firstly, if the transactions extracted from the bank have been downloaded incorrectly, you'll need to manually exclude those transactions and re-import them using a CSV file. Make sure that the amounts are placed in the correct debit and credit columns, as QuickBooks simply receives your data.

You can consult this article to learn how to import your transactions: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Incorrectly categorized transactions can result in inaccurate balances. To resolve this, you'll need to undo the transactions and re-categorize them correctly.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Accounting tab and choose Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the desired bank account and go to the Categorized tab.
  3. Identify the transactions, then click Undo to re-categorize.

You can also check out this article to learn more about reviewing transaction categories. Categorise online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online
