Is there a way to see an audit history but only activity affecting a specific chart of account?

Something happened to change the account balance and I'm not sure when or how it changed, and it was within the last month. Is there a way to sort through just one account, not the whole audit log?

Hello there! I am delighted to welcome you to the Community space. I'd be pleased to help you today, ruthanne.

Your chart of accounts has account registers that allow you to keep track of transactions according to their source, making it simple to track the activity of a specific account. They include an account's complete transaction history and current balance. I'll show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon, then choose Chart of accounts under YOUR COMPANY.
  2. Hit the account or search it in the Filter by name field.
  3. In the ACTION column, tap the Account history link.
  4. Bank Account History window will appear.
  5. Double-click to edit.

You can also run a Transaction Detail by Account report, then customise the data in order to view the audit log for the desired account. I'll walk you through the steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu. T
  2. Type in Transaction Detail by Account in the search field.
  3. Click the Switch to classic view button.
  4. Choose the Report period, then select the Customise option.
  5. Hit the Filter dropdown button.
  6. Check the Account box, then choose the specific account.
  7. Modify the data based on your needs.
  8. Tap Run report.

Please refer to this article if you want to reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

We're always looking forward to helping you if you need further assistance managing your chart of accounts. Have a nice day, ruthanne.
