Hi, How to create a journal entry

We can create a Journal Entry (JE) by navigating to the +New button located at the upper right corner of your browser, Andiswa. I'm here to help you through the process so you can record them successfully.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Click on the + New button.
  2. Choose Journal entry under Other.
  3. Begin with the first line and select an account in the ACCOUNT field. If you need to debit or credit the account, enter the amount in the appropriate column (Debit or Credit).
  4. On the next line, select another account to which you are transferring money. Depending on whether your first entry is a debit or credit, enter the corresponding amount in the opposite column for this line.
  5. Verify the amounts to ensure they are balanced. The total in the Debit column on one line should match the total in the Credit column on the other.
  6. Use the DESCRIPTION section to enter details that explain the purpose of this journal entry.
  7. Finalize by selecting either Save and new to enter another entry, or Save to finish.

Before adding entries to your journal, it's advisable to consult with an accountant. Their expertise can help prevent errors in classification, amounts, or timing of entries, which could otherwise lead to misstatements in financial reports.
