Thank you for reaching out here in the Community, Roanne. The option to entirely erase inventory data in QuickBooks Online is not available. However, I'd like to share some ideas to help you manage your inventory while keeping your AP and AR connections intact.
Since inventory items are linked to past transactions, QuickBooks does not allow you to delete them entirely, as doing so could affect your financial records. Instead, you can make these items inactive to remove them from your active inventory list without deleting their historical data.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon, then select Products and services.
- Locate the items you want to make inactive.
- Under the Actions column, click the dropdown button.
- Select Make inactive.
- Keep in mind, there will be a reminder that pops up, then click Make inactive.
Moreover, when you generate reports, QuickBooks will retain all past transactions involving inactive items, ensuring that your AP and AR details remain accurate. If needed, you can customize your reports to display both active and inactive inventory items for reference.
