I am not able to import bank csv file in Quickbooks

We've got some steps we can perform to troubleshoot the issue with importing your CSV file to QuickBooks Online (QBO), Snehal.

Let's make sure we choose the correct columns in the mapping stage since QBO is unable to read the data. This results to missing info errors when importing your CSV file. Let me guide you on how:

  1. Delete columns you do not need from your CSV to avoid any confusion. The columns that are required by QuickBooks are:
    • Date
    • Description
    • Amount
  2. Change the names of the columns in your CSV to match the titles in QuickBooks.

You can check out this article to help you review the format of bank transactions in a CSV file you plan to upload into QuickBooks: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks

Also, some financial institutions don't all create their CSV files the same way. We may need to make adjustments to import your transactions successfully. Here are a few things to look out for:

  • Currency symbols and commas: it is best to keep the amounts column as simple as possible.
  • Special characters in the bank description can prevent you from importing your file. Look out for these and remove them before uploading the file again.
  • Check the date format to ensure it matches your chosen one at the mapping stage.

For additional tips on identifying formatting issues with CSV files, you can check out this article: Common errors for importing bank transactions using CSV in QuickBooks Online.

When your file is formatted correctly, we can upload them into the program again.

Once you've imported all your bank transactions, we can categorise and match them to your existing entries to avoid duplicates. This also helps us track your business's growth and activities and ensure everything is accurate.

Feel free to revisit this thread if you have more questions about importing bank transactions or any QuickBooks-related concerns.
