How to import european bank transactions? .csv and .ofx does not work - system recognizes comma as delimiter

Hello, Alfred Hoefinger.

I have a bunch of steps you can do to import your bank transactions to QuickBooks Online.

Just a quick note regarding the Excel file format, we do support .CSV files for bank transactions. Aside from that, you can also use the .QBO format.

For OFX files, you'll want to use a third-party converter and change it to .CSV or .QBO. More details can be found here: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Where did you see the "comma as delimiter" message? I can narrow down my solution and help you fix this.

In the meantime, you can do these steps to help you import your transactions.

An issue might happen if the file is incorrectly formatted. In this case, you'll want to reformat your .CSV file and ensure it follows the three or four-column template.

Check here for a detailed guide: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

A large Excel file might also cause issues during the upload. You can shorten the date range of your transactions and download a smaller file size.

Other solutions can be found here:

You might have already tried this but you'll want to double-check if the bank offers a direct connection to our Online Banking feature. They might have a different or multiple listing.

I've tried searching for "European bank" and found a number of them. To make the search easier, you can copy and paste the bank's website link in the search box.

When you've finally brought in your bank transactions, you can start categorizing or matching them.

I'll still wait for your reply on where you encountered the message. If you have other questions for QuickBooks Online, please include them. Thanks!
