I'm here to clear things out for you about 1096s, @LeeAnna.

 

Form 1096 is a single transmittal form that reports all payments made to all your contractors. After you e-file, the summary form (1096) is automatically transmitted. It's basically an index or a list of the 1099s that are included in the filing. 

 

Yes, Charies_M is right. You no longer need to submit one if you use Intuit's E-file service in filing your 1099s.
