I'm sorry to hear that your laptop has been hijacked and that this has disrupted your workflow. I understand that this is a difficult situation, but I want to assure you that I'm here to help. I can offer some advice on how to restore your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) data from a backup CD.
Before anything else, can you verify if you already installed the QBDT on your computer or laptop? If confirmed, all you need to do is to insert the CD into your computer to restore the backup file.
When you restore, QuickBooks uses the backup company file (.qbb) to create a new company file (.qbw). Let me guide you on how:
Note: If you open the backup in the same folder as your existing company file, you may overwrite your data.
6. To avoid overwriting anything, you can rename your existing company file or the backup file to make the names unique, or you can save the backup in a completely separate folder.
7. When you're ready, click Save. If you see any messages about possibly overwriting your data, select the option that best fits your needs. Don't overwrite anything unless you're sure you want to.
In addition, I also recommend consulting with IT to further help you with technicalities you may encounter.
