Jean I’ve seen that post but there’s no any more official as I’ve seen? It was supposed to have been the end of June so no idea. More confusion from Intuit.

Thanks for visiting the Community, @Jean24 and @Mark Armistead.
Let me share and clarify the information about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) UK version.
With QBDT UK, all QuickBooks versions are only accessible, and support will be until June 30, 2023. We can no longer continue after the discontinuation deadline. However, we can continually manage your business finances by converting to one of our QuickBooks Online (QBO) plans.
You can also use other accounting software that best supports your business needs.
For more detailed insights about the discontinuation of the QBDT UK version, you can refer to this link: QuickBooks Desktop is being discontinued.
Moreover, you can check out these articles to help you convert and transfer all your data seamlessly if you consider moving from QBDT to QBO:

If you have further clarifications or other QuickBooks-related concerns, feel free to get back to this thread. I'll be right here, willing to assist you anytime. Take care!

Open your company file and hit f2 key to find the year version. If you are using QB Desktop 2021, you should convert your data to QB Online or another accounting app to comply with MTD requirements.

in the version used on file box it says
V31 OU R1 29/09/2020
V31 OU R3 05/11/2020
V31 OU R4 25/02/2021
I have 3 companies on my desktop and only 1 uses vat MTD the other 2 do not need any add ons that is why I am wondering if I can just move the 1 that needs add ons and leave the other two for just entry purposes ?
BTW thank you for your assistants

You're on QB Desktop 2021 and they've decided to discontinue QB Desktop in the UK in a few months. Your program will lock you out on that date and your company files will be useless unless you convert them.

oh well that's my theory out the window then. I'm not going to pay a subscription for a simple bookkeeping entry on 2 companies I just need to find another easy software. I will transfer the 1 company that needs vat & mtd though & thank you once again for your help

You may consider purchasing QB Desktop 2020 with the one time license, but you will start the company file from scratch. Then you may consider using another app to comply with MTD. They provide a HMRC Approved web based solution for submitting your VAT returns for MTD for free for the fist year. You can use your own excel spreadsheet or use an export Excel or CSV from any accounting program.
