Payments
Hello there, Paulina.
I'll share some necessary information when setting up QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payments.
When establishing a QuickBooks Payments account, an SSN is required to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance with tax authorities, helping you prevent fraud and protect your account.
Moreover, the application requires detailed information about your personal and business details, including the following:
- Full Legal Name
- Home Address
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number (SSN)
- Percentage of ownership (if applicable)
- Legal Business Name
- Business Address
- Business Phone Number
- Industry Type
Therefore, an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) cannot be used since it doesn't identify a business entity and isn’t the recognized tax ID used by banks, payment processors, or the IRS for merchant accounts. Otherwise, you may consider using a third-party application to accept payments from your customers.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding the setup of QBO Payments, please feel free to reach out. I'm here to help.

If you run B2B, you can use a 3rd party payment processor to sync with QBO with your ITIN.
