Good day, AliG.
I'm here to help ensure your transaction number will show on the actual invoice via QuickBooks Online.
To show the number on the actual invoice, you need to ensure that the Form numbers option on your template is selected.
Here's how:
- Click the Gear icon at the upper right corner and choose Custom form styles.
- Locate the invoice template you're using and click Edit.
- Go to the Content tab.
- Click the upper part of the template or the Header.
- Select the Form numbers.
- Hit Done.
Once saved, you should be able to see the number on the actual invoice.

Hi RoseMajorieA
Thank you for your reply. While going through the steps you suggested I had the right box ticked. However I realised that the actual problem was that the wrong form was the default invoice form. I've changed the default to the correct form and the invoice number is now coming up.
Very grateful for your expertise.
