I've been checking periodically for a 2025 and thought it was weird to not have one.
What I'm confused about is why this would be bad...assuming they continue providing support, bug fixes, etc. to the 2024 desktop?
It would make my job (I.T.) much easier if there was just ONE VERSION of QB Desktop, and it was maintained/updated appropriately. This sounded like good news to me no?
And yeah our accountants have tried QBOnline many times and the short version is it's a dumpster fire, as everyone else has voiced all over the internet. Desktop version doing it's job though. Buggy sure, but w/ updates and staying on newest version it more or less is fine imo.

@Tonst3r As far as I understand the situation, Desktop 2024 will be supported until 2027. At that point, as with the other Desktops, it will almost certainly be sunsetted.
This will leave Enterprise and QBO.
It's basically an open secret that Intuit is trying to exert little pressures like this to shuffle people away from Desktop; for instance, not accepting new Desktop customers.
From there, it's basically just a matter of attrition; if you let your subscription lapse, you'll lose your grandfather'd status and be no different from a new customer.
Not sure if they have eventual plans to shuffle people away from Enterprise too, but we'll see.

I was told by our sales representative that no new major versions of Enterprise will be released either.
I also handle our firm's IT. While the prospect of no new major versions to support might seem good, don't be fooled. Intuit was already neglecting desktop versions of QuickBooks. Here is an example of a problem that Intuit has done nothing to address since at least 2018 and that has carried over into every major release since:
Imagine the support experience for a product that is only being "maintained."

Intuit has been one the worse companies for it's customers for years. They want us to use the online version but refuse to have all of the desktop features online. How do we use online without what we need. Come on! A simple search in Other names and employees is not even available and been requested for many years. Simple features of the multiuser/single user mess. This is 2025 and we have to change for Single User for basic merging and other features. It is ridiculous. Intuit has throw the smallest amount of money possible at the desktop version for 15 years while using the small R&D budget to SLOWLY build out the online version. I'm perfectly happy with online is it is a decent app. However, there is a reason so many other apps have taken customers away from Intuit and this is another 30 plus year user that will leave Intuit for one of those.

Those websites are scam. Where is your company located? I can recommend a trusted reseller if required.

The only clients in QB online are the ones that insist for different reasons. If desktop goes away, I will absolutely look for different software. I agree with you totally.

If you don't need to run any add-ons, you can switch to an old QB Desktop with a non subscription license. Otherwise, renew your Enterprise license through a reseller and you can get a discount of more than 10%.
