Hi there
I had my client upgrade from solopreneur to Simple Start in order to be able to invite me as accountant. He is unable to do that. Can you guide us? thanks

Hello there, Newyorktutor. I'd gladly discuss the process of how to invite your accountant to QuickBooks in detail.
To invite your accountant to QuickBooks Simple Start, follow these steps:
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary admin.
- Select Settings ⚙, then click Manage users.
- Choose the Accountants or Accounting firms tab.
- Enter your accountant’s email address.
- Click Invite.
Once done, your accountant will receive an email with a link to sign in to your company. They’ll need to create a user ID if they don’t already have an account with Intuit Business Services.
For a comprehensive guide to the process, I recommend referring to this article: Add accountant users in QuickBooks Online.
Moreover, if your accountant didn't receive your email invitation, you may check out this article for detailed instructions: What to do if invited users did not receive your email invitation.
Please tag my name in your reply on the Community forum for further inquiries about inviting your accountant to QuickBooks. I'm more than willing to assist you further. Have a pleasant day!

Thanks for the rapid reply, VoltF. The problem is when he clicks on that, he gets a message saying he has to upgrade to Essentials.

Thanks for getting back to this thread @newyorktutor. Let me share some details about the usage limits in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The message that your client received may be related to data issues in their browser. To confirm, they can access their account using a private browsing mode, which doesn't store cookies or browsing history. Also, since your client is using QuickBooks Simple Start, they can invite two accounting firm users.
Here are the shortcut keys:
- Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
- Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
- Safari: Press Command + Shift + N
If their able to send an invitation, return to their browser and clear its cache and cookies to refresh website preferences that may be causing problems when using QuickBooks Online. Otherwise, they use a supported browser.
If they experience the same issue, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
Nevertheless, if you didn't receive the email invitation from your client, they can check this article for future help: What to do if invited users did not receive your email invitation.
Please know that I'm just post away if you need any further assistance recording expense transactions in QBO. Don't hesitate to reach out. Stay safe.
