Hi all, it does seem that Quickbooks in their infinite knowledge and updates has further downgraded their site. I was able to find a solution by using an older version of the Quickbooks mobile app (version 27.42.0). It still let me go into an invoice and set it as flat rate, it still looks a little wonky on the website but the pdf view shows it being what I want. Screenshots attached.
I would suggest not updating the Quickbooks mobile app if you haven't already. Hopefully they don't start version verifying to make us endure their awful changes they constantly make. My old invoices don't seem affected either, hopefully that stays that way too. I'll be sending in negative feedback about this change and I suggest you all do too

We are a services business and do not work by the hour or sell in units. This does not work for us and in customizing an invoice there is either a "1 x " on my invoice or rate then amount. We bill by a flat rate for a service and this makes our invoicing look very unprofessional. Can you show me how I can bill and only list the service and price??? Will flat rate come back? We need to know these answers or will have to find a new service. We don't want to but our invoicing is embarrassing.

I've come to ensure you're able to customize your invoices the way you wanted, Hope22.
With QuickBooks Online, we can modify and add specific details or formats to your sales forms. You'll want to personalize them to achieve professional-looking invoices when sending them to your customers. To do this:
- Go to the Gear icon and select Custom Form Styles.
- Select a default invoice template and click Edit or create a New Style.
- In the Content tab, click on the Table section (middle).
- Under columns, uncheck other data and ensure to check the Product/Service and Amount checkbox.
- Modify and add necessary information from it, then click Done to save.
Moreover, I understand the relevance of having the flat rate option when entering your invoices. As we assess this feature to improve our product features, I recommend sending this feedback personally to our product engineers. They'll consider having this option and include them in our future product enhancements.
Here's how to submit feedback:
- Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback unde Profile.
- Enter your feedback or suggestion.
- Then, click Next to submit.
I'm also sharing this helpful reference to guide you in receiving customer payments: Record invoice payment.
Feel free to let us know if you have further questions or concerns about managing your invoices. We'll be more than happy to help you anytime. Have a good one!

You cannot customize this on a working invoice anymore no matter what you say I need flat rate lines and I need hourly rate lines. The options were taken away in the new version. Quickbooks is not addressing this problem. Will be moving on shortly from Quickbooks.

For those that use only Flat Rate or Hourly Rate or Units, you can creat new templates and uncheck boxes in the Content field (to avoid seeing Qty and Rate for instance and only see Amount) and you can change the name of the field (QTY to HRS for instance) which is good - but for those of us who use more than one type of billing on one invoice this doesn't work. I use Hours for some services and other services are Flat Rate and need to be on the same invoice. The workaround doesn't work.
In the meantime, I just made separate templates for each type of invoice, for those that use only one type of rate (Hourly, Flat Rate or Units).

QB has taken this feature away. I am not sure why they would do this. A lot of businesses use this feature when invoicing. You can hit the gear icon and put in feedback requesting they bring the flat rate back.

This is very frustrating. My business also uses flat rates for a lot of services. My invoices are not looking professional with qty being the only option to enter the amount. They need to bring this back ASAP or as others have said, I will have to look for another invoicing company.
Instead of improving they are failing.
Quickbooks, please bring back the flat rate pricing option.

All the information you post is in no way helpful as it does nothing to resolve the fact that QuickBooks took away options that have been available for close to thirty years. Asking for help is like talking to a brick wall as this also results in nothing.

@cconnor17 RE: it does seem that Quickbooks in their infinite knowledge and updates has further downgraded their site.
Yes, it seems from the plethora of recent complaints here that Intuit had decided to make QuickBooks Online suck even more than it did before. Based on the screenshots and complaints I've been reading, it's amazing that they couldn't determine ahead of time how awful this update is.
It seems these recent changes are all the more reason to stick with QB Desktop - or go back to it!

This was not helpful as it did nothing to resolve the issue and if all your customers are complaining about the update how is it possible that you think it was an improvement?

I noticed that this morning, the Qty column is gone on our invoices. I followed what was recommended to turn off the Track Quantity And Price/Rate. Now our invoice only shows Amount. Prior to this, I did buy a subscription to Adobe Acrobat which enabled me to edit the PDFs.

Thank you for taking the time to post your concern in the Community, @Lynie.
Unchecking the Quantity box will hide the QTY column. I suggest revisiting the template and putting a checkmark on it.
Here’s how:
1. Click on the Gear icon.
2. Choose Custom Form Styles.
3. Select the template that you’re currently using.
4. Click Edit under the Action column.
5. Select the table section to customize it.
6. Tick the Quantity box.

Hi All,
I'm now able to enter a flat fee amount for a product or service without quantity or rate showing up. Delete the zeros and re-enter the flat fee amount.
