Data export only tool
I recently migrated 2 years of my data to QBO from Desktop using Movemybooks. I believe I now need to preserve my data for compliance purposes using the Data Only Export Tool.
My question is: Once I have uploaded my data, will I be able to access it from any computer or just the computer that has my desktop programme installed?

Thanks for dropping by the Community. I'm here to answer queries.
Yes, you may access QuickBooks Online since it is a full cloud solution that can be utilized on any computer (PC or Mac), mobile device, and compatible browser.
I'd like to add information, there are still tasks you must complete before you may use the online platform. To clear the setup checklist and begin tracking your entries, complete them as soon as possible.
- Enter your company's information and fiscal start month.
- Check your data by comparing reports.
- Turn on Sales Tax.
- Reconcile your bank and credit card balances.
- Examine your account's detail types.
- Complete your payroll setting.

Other Questions
Thank you for your reply but I think you misunderstood my question. I am aware that Quickbooks Online can be accessed from any computer but I want to know if the historical data uploaded via the Data Only Export Tool can be accessed from any computer.

Other Questions
Hi Bar8, apologies for the confusion - the data export tool for QuickBooks Desktop is only able to be used on computers with the desktop company file (.QBB, .QBW, .QBM) downloaded.

Other Questions
Hi,
I a currently looking at exporting my data and have been told that it will only export 7 years, is this correct?
Also could the company file be stored on an external hard drive and used from there? I am concerned that with the replacement and upgrade of computers this data will be lost.
Finally, we use Quickbooks to it's fullest including stock control and allocation of stock to clients - will this information be avaiable?

You need to purchase another 3rd party service to convert data with specific requirements (e.g multicurrency, attachments, >7 years data).

If you don't mind exploring on your own, you can try using a migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Desktop and TP Importer for Online.

But if you prefer to purchase a 3rd party service converting data to QBO or another program, you may contact me in private for details.

We are also keen to get confirmation as to whether the Quickbooks Desktop data can be stored elsewhere. Did you manage to get a response from Quickbooks on this?
