Spread revenue over several months but provide customer with an invoice with total revenue

We are a landscaping company, and our projects can span over several months.  We would like to see our revenue spread out over the months the project is in progress, but also be able to send the customer an invoice when the job is completed that contains the entire revenue.  Is there a way to do this?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! I'll provide information about how revenue is posted in QuickBooks so you'll be guided with your process.

 

Revenue posting is based on the invoice date or its payment date, depending on your accounting method. Therefore, we're unable to spread the revenue in your case since you only invoice on the completion date. You may consult an accountant about the principles behind revenue posting.

 

You can only spread the revenue when you invoice and receive payment on a monthly basis throughout the project period.
