Hello KateMcG,
Projects is an awesome feature that allows you to keep track of your income and expenses for each individual job you're working on. QuickBooks Online allows you to stay organized, while also saving you time with features like Projects. I can see how it would be beneficial to have a list showing you everything you have on-the-go. I'll explain how to export a list of Projects.
While it'll be in PDF format, rather than Excel, you can print or save a copy of your Projects list from the main Projects page. To do this, click Projects on the left navigation menu, then select the small printer icon above the list.
At this time, this is the process available to see a list of your Projects. I know how handy it would be to have the option to export this list to Excel. I recommend submitting your feedback by clicking the Gear icon > Feedback. We're always looking for new and improved ways to save you time.
Have a nice day.

Thanks!
I've just sent it through the Feedback menu, however it then recommends I post it in an forum for feedback - but that forum appears to be closed... So hopefully my suggestion will make it through.

Hello,
You can click the print icon and it will create a new window called "untitled" which will show up behind the print box. We copy the data from there into excel. Much easier than a copy for a PDF.
Excel would be a great option to have for downloading the project list.
Help that helps!

possible! depending on how often you need the report, we can build a direct connection to the QB database using QODBC and a custom connection to Excel. Everytime you need the data you can click a query button in excel to pull the Project's income and expenses data, in a flash. www.goodreports.ca

Thanks for sharing your workaround for this @cpa_chang. You can find the app that you've recommended by navigating to the Apps tab from the left menu while logged into QBO, and using the search function, type and enter QODBC. There you'll be able to learn more about the app, read reviews, and check out the pricing to determine if this is the right solution for your business. In the meantime, I encourage all users who'd like to see the export to Excel option with the Projects feature to submit feedback through the Gear icon. I'll be passing the feedback along on my end as well. Take care!

Hi Rebecca,
If it's also possible to include the notes on the project itself, that would be great.

I think I may have come up with a solution for this... I was able to create a custom report to get to my list of projects..
Under "customize report" you can select Customer columns: Customer name, Company name, and Deleted. Then assuming you set up Customers with "Company Name" populated, you can filter using the following logic to exclude Customers and only show Projects:
Company name is empty
Deleted not equals Yes
Hope this helps!

Well it's three years later and we still don't have a way to export a list of our projects into Excel.
I mean, why would we want to export a table into Excel? C'mon, folks, this is common sense, and it has been three years since this was asked about, coming up on four years.
Can someone give us an ETA on when this would be available? Or explain why it is so difficult?
Sorry for the rant, I am not trying to be a troll or rude, just venting my frustration.

I've been generating a simple project list as an xls file by going through the "Sales" tab rather than the "Projects" tab. See if this works for your purpose:
Go to "Sales" tab in the side menu, then scroll and select the "Clients" sub-tab. Once there, hit the gear icon (next to print and export icons), select "Include projects." Then hit the export icon.
This will produce an xls file with clients, projects, and sub-clients in the pathway delineation of Client:Project or Client:Subclient. Unfortunately the column options do not include "status" so the list includes all clients and subclients from the begining of time; you'll need to cross it with some other kind of report or export, depending on what you're specifically looking to do.

It is too bad it doesn't include the amounts total for each project, as that would be very helpful.
Thank you for this, but it would be much better if Intuit would add the much-needed functionality.

Have you considered using a Project Profitability Summary report and exporting to Excel? That may be a more straight forward way of getting what you're looking for.
