Other Questions
I appreciate you letting us know on this forum, contact201.
Before we proceed, have you received any errors when uploading item lists to your account? What specific issues have you encountered? Any additional details would be much appreciated.
If you're uploading product and service lists from an older version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to a newer version, it's important to export the lists as an IIF file and import them into the recent account. Also, ensure that the file is correctly formatted and that both versions of QuickBooks are compatible to avoid any issues during the upload.
However, if you’re importing these items from QBDT to QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can export your item list in QBDT as an Excel or CSV file. Then, import it to your QBO account using the Import Data option.
With that, please take note that the product name, product type, quantity, and quantity as of date are required if you're importing inventory. If you're uploading services or non-inventory items, the name of the item is the only required field. Feel free to read this article to learn more about the formatting tips: Import products and services into QuickBooks Online.
When you're ready, here's how to do it:
- Login to qbo.intuit.com.
- Navigate to the Gear icon and select Import Data under the Tools section.
- Then, choose Products and Services.
- If you have the new version, you’ll see a Batch-import screen with a spreadsheet layout.
4.1 Select Import CSV and follow the on-screen steps to import.
- If you have the old version, you’ll see an option to upload either a CSV and Excel file, or a Google sheet.
5.1 Click on Browse to upload file from your computer and select Open. - Once done, follow the on-screen instructions and click Import to complete the process.
