Currently, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have a direct feature for issuing inventory items to projects. However, you can allocate inventory items to projects by adding them to related transactions, e.g., invoices, expenses, and bills.
Here's how:
- Go to the Projects section, then select the project you've created.
- Click the Add to project button, then choose the transaction type where you want to allocate your inventory items.
- Use the Product/Service field within the transaction to add the applicable inventory items.
If you’re issuing inventory items on a bill or expense and want to track them as project-related costs, you can mark these transactions as billable. This allows you to add the inventory items to the project’s invoice later, helping you track both expenses and income associated with the inventory.
