Try reinstalling and running your QBD 2011 in compatibility mode Win 7 on your Win 10. Half of our team is still running QBD 2011 and 2012 on Win 10 Home 20H2 to date. We don't dare to upgrade our Win 10 version and we were still using 1909 this year until Windows forced us to upgrade the version 8)
It it didn't work with you, consider upgrading your data to QBD 2020 or 2021 with a one time license. Contact us in private for assistance.

Dear Fiat Lux, Thank you for your, if cryptic, advising. I have my data (~12 years worth) backed up to a Thumb drive, but my 2011 edition, I think you know, is on CD's. My computer-repair shop loaded all of my 'old Laptop' (Windows7) stored data and I write because I cant open QB on the new machine. Maybe this is all self evident. So how do I 'reinstall' the QB2011 software, given no CD port ? Thanks for your help Chrisman

Dear 4Gal,
My initial posting detailed the seemingly-mysterious 'transfer' of a very-laden Bank-checking account file 'into' the new expense account I had just started. What's up with that ? I tried to re-enter, or 'change' the expense account to a bank account, but QB wouldnt let me. Thanks for your help, Chrisman

Dear SIAB,
No error codes nor messages that I can find. Is this really a unique circumstance ? All I recall is that I started a new expense account and suddenly my 'bank account' for the last 15 years is gone--and, mercifuly , the 'data' within the Bank account are found in this just-started expense account. I am relieved that the data s still here, but how to get the Bank Account back where I can use it ??
Thanks for your help, Chrisman

Thanks for your help, Chrisman

You can restore the latest backup file with a new name to isolate the problem. If the same error persists, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to check your file. It appears that QB Desktop 2011 does not provide a Verify/Rebuild Data utility.
