Understand the navigation menu in QuickBooks Online

The latest QuickBooks Online navigation gives you quick access to your day-to-day tasks like invoicing, banking, paying your employees, and more. This condensed experience uses the terms and concepts that you use to run your business. We'll show you what tasks you can do in each menu tab, and how you can customise the menu to best meet your business needs.

Overview of the navigation menu

Get things done is the starting point for the basic tasks at the core of your business. This includes linking bank accounts, creating invoices, categorising transactions and tracking receipts.

Business overview groups cash flow, reports, and projects to help you organise finances with a clear view of profits.

Get paid & pay has your sales and expense actions. Send invoices, access time tracking, pay suppliers and monitor your money and when it’s in the bank.

Customers & leads is where you set up and track customers, check bill status and market to customers with access to Mailchimp.

Payroll is where you manage employees and contractors, track their time and benefits and stay in compliance with tax and legal requirements.

Bookkeeping helps you keep your accounting on-track, reconcile your bank accounts and even invite your accountant to work on your books.

Taxes helps you set up automatic tax calculations to keep you tax compliant when the rates change.

Apps is where you find other QuickBooks products or third party apps for everything from tracking mileage to buying office furniture.

Customise your view

You can update the navigation to feature the pages you use most, or hide pages you don’t use, to make your menu customised to your needs. If you don’t see these options yet, don’t worry, we’re rolling this out to all our customers over time. 

Bookmark a page

  1. Select Add a bookmark.
  2. Select which pages you want to appear under Bookmarks
  3. To reorder your bookmarks, select reorder Screen Shot 2022-07-25 at 4.49.52 PM.png and drag it to your desired order.
  4. Select Save

To remove a bookmark:

  1. Hover over one of your bookmarked pages and select more optionsMore_icon_QBO_GB_Ext_160622.png
  2. Select Remove bookmark.

Hide or show a page

  1. Hover over any menu page and more options More_icon_QBO_GB_Ext_160622.png.  
  2. Select Customise this menu.
  3. Uncheck any pages you don’t need, or check any you do.
  4. To reorder your menu, select reorder Reorder and drag it to your desired order.
  5. Select Save

If you have questions or feedback, sign in to QuickBooks, scroll down, select Menu settings and Give feedback.
