- Go to the Gear icon, then choose Payroll Settings.
- Click the Pencil icon next to Export.
- Choose QuickBooks Online and tap Continue.
- Select the company you want to export into and choose the accounts for each wage expense or liability.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the setup.

- Choose Export transactions in the Export section.

QB Desktop 2017 is already outdated. Afaik, you are only able to utilize the payroll feature on a supported QB Desktop version (i.e 2019-2021). Consider upgrading your version to QBD 2021 with a one time license. Otherwise, you may import your payroll data as Journal Entries into QBD 2017.

This is really the worst integration process flow I've ever seen. You can't see what your exporting, you have to dig through settings to export data, it's terrible.

I have to agree. I went from QBO to QBDT 2022 and paycheck detail was stripped from paychecks and converted to a journal entry. Appears payroll department and accounting department don't communicate well with each other.
