Why did you say thank you for fixing the problem? No one gave a solution, and the Summarize Payroll Data in Excel workbook still shows three dummy names on several tabs. If anyone has a solution for this years-long bug, thank you for posting it.

QB doesn't do anything in 2023 with all the current updates when trying to run the tool.

I'm very frustrated that Quickbooks can't/won't fix the State Wage Listing feature in Summarize Payroll Data in Excel. I have QB 2023 and the latest Excel version and it still populates with unknown names. This has now been an ongoing problem for several years.

I know this hasn't been an easy process for you, MM203.
Let me make it up to you by ensuring you'll get detailed steps to resolve this.
First, let's run the report from the previous quarters. Then, click Yes when asked to update. Doing so helps you pull all the data correctly.
If it doesn't work, a clean install of QuickBooks and Excel are possible fixes.
Then, let's delete the 'QB_Payroll_Link.xlt' template. After that, re-download it. Here's how:
- Close QuickBooks.
- On your computer, go to your C Drive. The Program files (86x),
- Find Intuit, then Quickbooks20xx,
- Click Components and then Templates.
- Find the QB_Payroll_Link.xlt and delete it.
- Reopen QuickBooks and get a full payroll update.
- After updating, run the report.
Also, make sure QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest release. This way, you'll have the latest features and fixes.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary.
Additionally, I've added these articles that'll help you learn more about personalizing and memorizing various reports in QuickBooks Desktop to ensure you can easily access modified data:
I appreciate your understanding on this matter. Please know we're always here to assist if you have any other questions or concerns.
