Maryland Withholding rejected due to FEIN and CRN not matching
On trying to pay withholding tax to Maryland via QB Desktop Payroll (as I've done every pay period for 20 years), my payment was rejected twice this week with the following error:
Problem: FEIN and CRN combination does not match an account.
Solution: Verify your CRN with the state and update your company information in QuickBooks
Error Code: 900026
My FEIN and CRN are absolutely correct and have not changed. I've spoken with both Intuit and the Maryland Comptroller's Office. My instinct tells me this problem is at the Maryland end as I also had some trouble trying to file and pay manually through MarylandTaxConnect. The Comptroller's office told me that they've received several other complaints and have referred mine to their IT department.
Is anyone else having similar issues? Has anyone found. resolution?

Yes I am having the exact same issue with my last two payments. I ended up over weekend paying through Maryland Tax Connect. Have you found any resolution to this issue yet? Thanks!

Not yet. I solved my problem the same way you did -by paying through MarylandTaxConnect. As we only pay monthly, it'll be a few more weeks before I try again. Hopefully the issue will be resolved by that time.

Received same rejection notice. I verified that my federal and state account numbers are correct. I have not found a solution.

Hi Mike - FYI, I just received the following from QB Support..."We have reached out to the State of MD and found the issue was being driven by an error within the State's system. MD has advised they will be releasing a fix within the next few days."
