Limit Child support deduction by max %
I am trying to set up a child support garnishment for an employee and I do not see a way to limit the deduction to a maximum %.
For example I need to deduct $280/week, but I need the maximum to be no more than 65% of the net.
I can set the deduction at 65% with a max of $280, but then I only have the options to have that limit be one time, annual or monthly (not per pay period).
If I set the deduction at $280 it will not let me set the limit at 65%.
What am I doing wrong???

Employees and payroll
@mcavoym1 As far as I know, QuickBooks has no way to do that. Would be handy, though.
When I run across this issue, I typically set up an Excel sheet with a couple formulae. This allows the person handling payroll to enter the Net Pay into a cell and see how much they should be holding out for child support.
I prefer using the IF formula for this, but I imagine there are a lot of ways to set up the required formulae in Excel.

Hi there, mcavoym1. I understand the importance of limiting the deduction to a maximum % of your child support, especially in keeping your payroll data accurate.
At this time, this functionality is unavailable. As a workaround, you may consider following the solution shared by FishingForAnswers.
We can also send a feature request directly to our Product Development team. It helps us improve your experience and the features of the program. Here's how:

Employees and payroll
It IS available. If you haven't set it up, do it in Chart of Accounts. Otherwise, "Employees", Run payroll Checkup and as you hit next, next, & come to that page showing this set up in a list of other deduction types, click on whatever you named it, and it has the same adjustments & set up there.
A % of paycheck, an exact amount (PER month due), max if needed depending on the schedule, and a time schedule. We have one set to "1st of each month" it starts over at zero.
Hope that helps

Employees and payroll
I meant to say Payroll Item List rather then chart of accounts. My bad.
