Let me share with you some information regarding W-2, Les47
EFW2 means electronic W2. We do electronic filing in QuickBooks Desktop for W2 forms. You can choose either to create your W2s or file them electronically with QBDT Payroll. It depends on your state.
These are the steps to e-file your Federal W-2s to the SSA. When finished, you may also need to File your state W-2s.
The first step to electronically file your W-2s is to set it up.
- Select Employees, then Payroll Center.
- Open the QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Setup and select the File Forms tab from the Payroll Center.
- From the Other Activities list at the bottom, select Change Filing Method and click Continue.
- Select Federal Form W-2/W-3 from the list of forms, then select Edit.
- Select E-file, then Finish. This will open the enrollment instructions that you can read and print.
- Close the View Enrollments window and select Finish Later.
Next, you’ll be able to create your W-2s. And if your done, you’re ready to send us your W-2s to file electronically.

Employees and payroll
I filed my client's W-3/W-2 using the e-file functionality in Quickbooks Desktop. The problem is my program crashed after it finished submitting and now I can't find where to get the E-Filing confirmation that normally populates after transmitting is complete. Am I able to retrieve that without having to print an audit trail of the e-filing?

Hi, will the efile submission allow you to file W2 and W3 with less than all employees?
