Hi there, userpodentia. I can help you record your bank overdraft in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
When recording a bank overdraft, you can create a liability account in your Chart of accounts to easily track your bank transactions in QBO.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon, then select Chart of accounts.
- Click the New button to create a new account.
- You can enter any Account name you want.
- Under the Account type, choose Long Term Liabilities.
- You can select any detail type for the account you wish to.
- Once done, click Save.
After that, proceed with creating the bank deposit in QBO.
Here's how:
- Go to the +New icon, then select Bank deposit.
- Under Account field choose a bank account on where you want to deposit the funds.
- On the deposit page, scroll down until you see Add funds to this deposit.
- On the Add funds to this deposit, under Account, choose the liability account you've created.
- Then, enter all the necessary information.
- Once done, click Save and close.
When you pay off your bank overdraft, you can create either a Check/Expense by clicking the +New icon or a Journal entry.
