How do I export my QB Online company file for archival purposes?
We are using a new QB online file with a different chart of accounts that our accountant set up, but I'd like to keep the old one just in case.

There are two ways of exporting your company files in QuickBooks Online (QBO), treehugger99. We’ll provide you with more details below.
If your subscription is QBO Advanced, you have the option to back up all your company data for future use through the Back up my company feature. However, for Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus, please note that this option is unavailable. You can check this resource for more details: Back up and restore your QuickBooks Online Advanced company.
Additionally, when backing up your Chart of accounts, you can manually export it outside QuickBooks as an Excel file. This option is accessible regardless of the subscription you’re using. These are the steps:
- Hover over Reports and open Standard reports.
- Choose Account List from the report dropdown menu.
- Click on the Columns section to choose the columns to display.
- Once done, click the Export button.
- Select Export to Excel .
Feel free to visit this article for more information: Export your QuickBooks Online data.

Try converting your data to a QB Desktop file format. You can use the trial version for good to access your historical data.
