I got a notification that my online banking app recorded a login while I was asleep. Contacted my bank and they told me to check if Quickbooks had recently performed an update.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) regularly performs system updates to improve functionality, but these updates do not require direct logins to your online banking account, @accounts616.
While it's uncommon, automated systems like bank connections can sometimes trigger login alerts when QBO refreshes data for linked accounts, especially if you've enabled bank feeds. Some banks treat these refreshes as login activity, even though no manual login occurred.
Importantly, QBO itself does not typically log in to your bank account or access it without user interaction. To check if QuickBooks or if you have other users who initiated any activity, let's review your audit log history:
You can check out this article to learn about users created by QuickBooks: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
If you don’t see any relevant activity and still suspect the login alert wasn’t related to QBO, I recommend contacting our phone support team for further assistance. They can check whether any background processes or updates may have triggered the alert.
